How to Upload and Review Documents
You can review a document individually or compare two documents. Below, we explain both processes step by step.
Review a Single Document
Step 1: Go to the dashboard
To review your document(s), you need to be on the dashboard. To access it, you can click the top right button in the system and, in the sidebar, click "Go to dashboard".
Step 2: Upload Your First Document
- In the dashboard, you'll see the upload button active on the left viewer (upload). Click it to open a file browser window and upload your first document.
- Likewise, you can simply drag and drop the file onto the upload button (upload).
- Alternatively, you can click the "Open" button (folder_open) in the top bar to open a window with two spaces similar to the viewers in a smaller space. In these spaces, you can also upload a document simply by dragging and dropping it.
Step 3: Review Your Document's Content
- Once the document is loaded, you can click "Compare with itself" to analyze its content.
- Once the analysis process is finished, you'll see two copies of your document (one in each viewer) for your convenience. The changes you make will be saved in a single file, which will include the modifications as tracked changes in Microsoft Word.
- An analysis process will begin, which can last from a few seconds to several minutes, depending on the size and content of the document. During this process, the discrepancies found so far will be displayed in the right column, each in a card, showing pairs of texts considered discrepant.
- If you click on any of these cards, the texts they contain will be displayed in the viewers, one text per viewer, so you can simultaneously see the location and context of each.
- During the analysis time, you'll see a progress bar at the top right of the screen, which disappears once the system has finished its work. This progress bar has a cancel button (close) that, when clicked, aborts the analysis process.
- You don't need to wait for the analysis to fully complete to work with the results. You can start making changes to the discrepant texts or discard results while the system continues working in the background and adds new discrepancies to the list.
- Once the review has started, you can close your browser or navigate away without worry, as the processing will continue on the server. You can return simply by reopening the dashboard page or from the Menu > History section. This way, when you need to analyze very long documents, you can focus on other tasks while Text Radar does its job.
warning
Note: Once the analysis process is aborted, the review cannot be restarted later.
Review Two Documents
Steps 1 and 2: Go to the dashboard and upload your first document
- The process starts the same as for reviewing a single document. Just follow Step 1 and Step 2 explained above.
Step 3: Upload Your Second Document
- Once the first document is loaded, you'll see the second document upload option enabled in the second viewer (you'll see a second upload button upload).
- You can upload a second document in this viewer the same way you uploaded the first: by clicking the button or dragging the document onto it.
- If you want to change one of the two documents, you can remove it from its viewer by clicking the close button (close) over the document icon.
- In this situation, the "Compare with itself" button remains enabled (although it appears grayed out). But remember, if you click that button, only the first document will be compared with itself, completely ignoring the second document.
Step 4: Review the Content of Both Documents
- If you're satisfied with both documents, click the "Compare with each other" button to perform a comparative semantic review of the content of both documents.
- Next, the analysis of the two documents will begin. The process is identical to that explained in Step 3 of the previous section, with the difference that now each discrepancy will contain a text from the first document considered discrepant with another text from the second.
Troubleshooting
The document doesn't upload
- Verify that the file is in a compatible format (.docx, .doc, .pdf, or .txt).
- Make sure the file doesn't exceed the maximum allowed size.
- Try dragging it directly into the viewer instead of using the button.
- If the problem persists, try reloading the page or using another browser.
I've uploaded a document, but nothing happens
- Confirm that the viewer shows the document type icon and its name.
- Check if the "Compare with itself" button is enabled to start the review.
- Remember, if the document you're uploading is very large, depending on your internet connection speed, it may take a few seconds to upload.
- If the problem persists, try reloading the page or using another browser.
I can't upload a second document
- The second viewer only becomes enabled once you've uploaded a first document.
- Make sure you haven't activated the "Compare with itself" option, which disables the second viewer.
- Try closing the current document from the viewer and restarting the process.
No discrepancies appear
- Check that the content has enough length or detectable differences.
- If the document is very short or contains no discrepant content, discrepancies may not be detected.
- Verify that both documents are correctly loaded and are not identical.
- Repeat the comparison or try with different documents.
