How to Manage Results
Result cards are the way Text Radar shows you the discrepancies it has detected.
Each one groups two paragraphs from your document(s) where it finds a semantic discrepancy, highlighted with a color, and provides you with various information and management options.
Next, we explain how to understand them to get the most out of them.
Card Header
At the top of the cards, you'll find:
- The numbering of the card. Each discrepancy is assigned a unique number that won't change while you work with the documents and will help you identify and locate it in the central navigation bar, where you can see this value when you hover over a discrepancy marker.
- To its right, you have the compress button (compress) that reduces the space it takes up by hiding the text fields. You can expand it again by clicking the same button when it's in expand mode (expand).
- To the right, and if you haven't made any edits in the texts shown on the card, you have the "Discard" button. You can click this button if you believe the pair of displayed texts contain no errors, so the card moves to the "Reviewed discrepancies" area without making any changes to your document(s).
- Below this header line, you'll see the tags marking the type of discrepancy contained in the card (if it fits into any of the predefined categories).
Card Body
Below the card header, you'll find the containers holding the actual discrepancies, made up of:
- The viewer showing the discrepant paragraph, highlighted, whether the viewers are vertical (view_column_2) or horizontal (splitscreen). The first space always contains the paragraph for the left vertical viewer/top horizontal viewer (splitscreen_left/ splitscreen_top) and the second space contains the paragraph for the right vertical viewer/bottom horizontal viewer (splitscreen_right/ splitscreen_bottom).
- The pagination of the discrepant paragraph: the page where the paragraph is located in the respective document.
- To the right of this information, you have the undo (undo) and redo (redo) buttons for the changes made in each paragraph.
- Below this line, you have the text areas displaying the discrepant paragraphs. These texts, extracted from your document(s), include color highlights depending on the type of discrepancy (dates, figures, names, etc.). These highlights disappear when you click on the text, at which point you can edit the paragraph.
How to Edit Discrepant Paragraphs
You can edit each paragraph separately directly in the discrepancy card. To do so:
- Click on the text area containing the paragraph you want to edit and make the changes you want.
- When you make changes to any paragraph, you'll see that the "Discard" button changes to "Apply changes".
- Once you're satisfied with the result, click this button, and the changes will be applied to the document and can be seen in the corresponding viewer.
- You'll see the card automatically move from the "Detected discrepancies" column to the "Reviewed discrepancies" column (checklist). You can continue editing its content in this section.
- The changes made will be visible on the discrepancy card itself, as well as when you hover over the box marking the edited paragraph in the viewer (you'll see your tracked changes in the floating window that appears below it). Additionally, your changes will be integrated into the document, and you can view them with Microsoft Word's track changes when you download it.
How to Discard Irrelevant Discrepancies
You can omit discrepancies that appear in the "Detected discrepancies" column but are not of interest to you. To do so:
- Click the "Discard" button in the upper right corner of the card.
- When you do this, the card will move to "Reviewed discrepancies" (checklist). You can continue editing its content in this section.
Troubleshooting
I can't upload my documents
- Make sure the files are in a compatible format (.docx, .doc, .pdf, or .txt).
- Verify that they are not damaged or password-protected.
- Try using the function that lets you enter plain text yourself if the file doesn't upload correctly.
The viewers are not displaying correctly
- Check if you have selected the Individual View option (news).
- Change the layout with the Vertical View button (view_column_2) or Horizontal View button (splitscreen) in the top bar.
- Try reloading the page or using a different browser.
No discrepancies are displayed
- Make sure you have correctly compared the document(s) from the dashboard screen.
- It is possible that your document(s) indeed contain no discrepancies. In that case, the system will inform you that it was unable to find any problematic text.
- Try with other documents to check that the system is working correctly.
The cards do not appear complete or are empty
- Try expanding the card by clicking the expand button in its header.
- It is possible that the text to be displayed appears in white in your document or with an excessively small font size. Try clicking the button to clear formatting (format_clear) so that texts are displayed in a standard, always legible format.
- If the content still doesn't appear, try reloading the page or running the comparison again.
I can't edit the paragraphs
- Click directly on the text area of the paragraph to enable editing.
- If the area doesn't respond, check that you haven't accidentally compressed the card.
The "Apply changes" button doesn't appear
- This button only appears after you have made a change to the text.
- If you don't see the button, make sure you have correctly edited one of the paragraphs.
- If you make a change and then undo it, or simply make more changes until you leave the same text as originally, the button may revert to showing "Discard".
The change is not reflected in the document
- Check that you clicked "Apply changes" after editing the paragraph.
- Make sure the corresponding viewer is active and hasn't been accidentally closed.
- Hover over the edited paragraph in the viewer to see the applied tracked change.
